Save Colwyn Bay Library campaign

Clwyd West MP, David Jones, has condemned the decision by Conwy County Borough Council that Colwyn Bay Library could still move to the Coed Pella building in the future, despite overwhelming public opposition to the move.

David Jones said:

“I am dismayed by this decision. It is very clear to me, from the correspondence that I have received from constituents, that a large number of people from Colwyn Bay and the surrounding area value the library and enjoy the many services that it provides.

“The library is a very beautiful and historic building in an excellent location, and many are concerned about what might become of it under the proposals.

“For the Council to disregard the views of residents, 74.9% of whom were opposed to this move, is lamentable.

“I urge them urgently to reconsider and to make every effort to preserve this much-loved historical and architectural feature of our town, and the important service it provides.”
