MP WELCOMES SUPERFAST BROADBAND PROGRESS

Posted on 11th February, 2015

David Jones, MP for Clwyd West, has welcomed new figures that show families and businesses in Clwyd West are benefitting from the Government’s investment in superfast broadband.

The figures reveal that 27,400 more premises in Clwyd West will have access to superfast broadband than before the Broadband Programme began.

Across the UK, 2 million premises have been connected to superfast broadband and 95 per cent of the UK will have access by 2017, compared to the 45 per cent in 2009.

David Jones said:

‘I am extremely pleased to see that the £1.7 billion investment from the Government in the roll out of superfast broadband is going to reach 95 per cent of the country.

‘I am especially pleased to see that there are plans in place for connecting the final 5 per cent, who are often in the most remote and hard to reach places.

‘I know that there are a number of my constituents who are disadvantaged by the lack of access to broadband and this will make a considerable difference to them as well as businesses and the whole country.’
