Cancellation of Older Persons’ Day

Posted on 13th March, 2020

The annual Older Persons’ Day at St Paul’s church, Colwyn Bay, organised by Clwyd West MP, David Jones, has been called off because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The event, due to be held on 19th April, has been running for several years and is highly popular and valued by older people as a ‘one stop shop’ for information on issues as diverse as financial advice, fire precautions and later-life education.

David Jones said:

“It is unfortunate that we have had to take the decision to call off the event.

However, the health of everyone attending had to be the primary consideration.  Older people are the group most vulnerable to the virus and it would have been wrong to run even the slightest risk of infection.

I very much hope and expect that we will be able to hold the event again next year.  It is extremely popular and always greatly appreciated by everyone who attend.”
