The Prime Minister has announced that an election will be held on 8 June, and that we will shortly take the necessary steps in Parliament to ensure that this can happen.
The election has been called now as it is the only way to ensure we have a strong leadership, certainty, and stability for a full five years, not just up to the point at which we leave the European Union. The election is about leadership. Your vote will be between a strong and stable relationship in the national interest with Theresa May and the Conservatives, or a weak and unstable coalition government led by Jeremy Corbyn.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives will be sticking to our Plan for a Stronger Britain and building on the good work we have done so far to a secure future.
