MP HOSTS ANNUAL PENSIONERS’ FAIR

David Jones, MP for Clwyd West, held Pensioners’ Day 2016 at St Paul’s Church, Colwyn Bay, on Friday last, 19 February.

The day provided an opportunity for a range of local organisations, societies and charities to set up stalls with information and speak to the public about what services they offer.

More than 20 different organisations came to the event, including, Citizens Advice Bureau, Carers’ Outreach, Cerdded Conwy, North Wales Police and others. Scottish Power provided energy saving tips, whilst there was health advice from the Stroke Association and North Wales Police provided advice on safety.

David Jones said:

‘I was delighted to host another Pensioners’ Day, especially after the success of last year.

‘I am extremely grateful to all the organisations who came to hold a stand. They put in an excellent effort and always bring a range of resources and information. It was a pleasure to see some familiar faces from last year returning but also to welcome some new ones.

‘It is important that public are aware of how they can benefit from the services available to them and I am hoping to host another similar event in Abergele later this year.’

Gina Conlan, from Citizens’ Advice Bureau said:

‘We had a lot of interest in the services we provide and were able to direct a substantial amount of people to their local outreaches.’

Mair Roberts of Carers’ Outreach Service said:

‘It was a good opportunity to highlight the support available to unpaid family carers and we would be pleased to attend again in future.’
