David Jones, MP for Clwyd West, welcomes the National Lottery grant to the Rhos Methodist Playgroup in Colwyn Bay.

The playgroup is one of a number of community organisations in the Clwyd West constituency that were accepted by the ‘Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All’ small grants programme, and has received £14,582 worth of grants to improve and support the local community.

Rhos Methodist Playgroup in Conwy will use the grant of £1,500 to provide hand washing facilities for the children attending the setting. It will fund a sink, materials, and installation costs.

The Big Lottery Fund has funded 529 projects in Clwyd West since 2004, with a total value of £20,574,566.

Gareth Williams, Awards for All Programme Manager for the Big Lottery Fund in Wales, said:

“Awards for All is having a positive impact throughout Wales.

“Money is helping to establish groups, societies and clubs, promoting learning, increasing volunteering opportunities and helping to build stronger communities.’

David Jones said:

“When the National Lottery was introduced by the then Conservative government in 1994 it was hailed as ‘the most successful innovation of any government for years’.

“23 years on, we can still see the National Lottery providing huge benefits to communities the length and breadth of the country.”
