The following is the text of a press release issued by the Rt. Hon. David Jones M.P. on 13 November 2015.

JONES VISITS SCHOOL DEBATING SOCIETY

David Jones, MP for Clwyd West, visited Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos today to speak to their Debating Society and School Council, who were fund-raising for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.

David Jones spoke to the children about his experience of debating in the House of Commons and gave them tips for their future debates. He also invited the school to make a visit to Westminster to watch debates in the House of Commons, where the Youth Parliament was debating at the time of his visit.

Some of the children had come to school in fancy dress costumes to raise funds for Children in Need and included a Wonder Woman, Iron Man and a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

David Jones said:

“I was delighted to visit Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos today to meet their School Council and Debating Society and see what a wonderful effort they had made in order to raise money for the Children in Need appeal.

“The children were very enthusiastic about their debates and I was pleased to let them know more about debates in the House of Commons, where I hope they will be able to visit soon.

“It was, of course, a pleasure to meet Iron Man, the Marshmallow Man and others too!”
